Had a bottle of Alpine Nelson last night, it hit a few weeks back in Texas --- no where near as good as the stuff I've had that actually came from Alpine. Not sure what's up, but it's just not good.

Because it's made by Green Flash. I had them side by side and it wasn't close. I've heard the newest batch of Green Flash Nelson is closer. Hopefully they get the recipes dialed in.

Damn. This is what I was worried about after the Alpine acquisition, that we'd end up buying the name brand only. I'm not sure I have faith in Green Flash's ability to scale up those recipes and keep the intent of the original Alpine beers intact.

The intention is there, but the execution just isn't. The Nelson doesn't have that strong hop nose to it, and the rye comes off strong, pulling too much focus to the body of the beer.

I heard from a credible source KC got 50 cases, obviously with 8-10 of them going to bier station for the rollout event.. So not as many as I thought would make it here unfortunately.

I talked to the guys at Mikes on Wornall and they said it lasted 20 minutes. Had folks waiting hours outside the store for it.

I got one there. There were two guys that waited a little over an hour. (And took up their limited parking) There were a couple truck chasers. And they held 50% back for their regulars. Which is the right thing to do but my point is that though I'm sure they were annoyed they also exaggerated. My second bottle was unexpected but also a much more pleasant experience. That came from Gomers 75th. Thanks Pete!
