Brewhouse One Series: Imperial Dark Saison – Belgian-Style Holiday Ale

Post by Chris Dolt » December 13th, 2019, 4:31 pm

‘Tis the season to celebrate traditional Belgian Holiday Ales. This well-loved style is as integral to the holidays as Santa Claus, menorahs and mistletoe. Bursting with aromas of Belgian yeast, citrus and dark malts, a true Belgian Holiday Ale makes the perfect companion to any Holiday celebration.

We here at Boulevard are no strangers to brewing a world-class saison but we also abide by the motto: “game respects game.” In that spirit we invited our friends from Blackberry Farm Brewery in Tennessee to come to town to collaborate on a unique saison that would make our Holiday Ale the most special part of your holiday season.

This Imperial Dark Saison is brewed with a wide variety of specialty grains that offer flavor elements of spice, chocolate and sweet bread. Orange peel offers both a bright citrus note and a nod to tradition, while our house Belgian yeast adds a phenolic cinnamon-and-pepper aroma.

Brewhouse One Limited Release – Imperial Dark Saison – Belgian Style Holiday Ale will be released on Friday, December 20th at 10:00am in our Tours & Rec Center Gift Shop. 750ml bottles will be $18.99. Limit two bottles per transaction. Draft pours will also be available in our Beer Hall & Rec Deck, 8oz pours for $6.

I am wonder how they came up with that price point. The last release was about the same price per fl oz but this one does not appear to use barrels or have a super high ABV or lots of expensive adjuncts.

We've always tried to keep cohesive pricing for our Brewhouse One releases. In the past, we always did $1 per oz and if individuals bought a four-pack they would receive a price break. We recently re-evaluated our pricing on Brewhouse One Releases after 2 years of creating them and decided we would now do .75 cents per ounce across the board. These beers range in style, brewing process and ingredients but all are created with a lot of time and care. In regards to the Imperial Saison our collaboration with Blackberry Farms alongside specialty malts, orange Peel, dark sugar, dark candi sugar, we felt this beer had the beautiful caliber to be part of our Brewhouse One Series.
