What are you drinking and what do you think about it?

Postby EricH » December 6th, 2013, 4:19 pm

Starting a new thread here, not only to reset that 92-page monster but because (once again) I am taking a page from our cousins over at stlhops. To me it's more interesting to know what you all think about what you're drinking, not just what you're drinking. So have at it!

Cheers!

Our immigrants and infidels
They say there is strangeness too dangerous
In our theaters and bookstore shelves
That those who know what's best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves

Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine. Solid beer I guess. Just didn't taste like I was expecting. Was looking for it to be a little richer and the spices to be a little more subdued?

Don't get me wrong, its not an overly, in your face spiced beer. I just expected the barrel to be a little more prevalent than it is.

2013 Bourbon Coffee Stout.

Its tough for me to explain how much I love this beer. Normally I'm not a huge fan of coffee infused beers to he honest. But the coffee in this is just so fresh and aromatic. The bourbon notes accentuate the roasted stout flavors perfectly, slightly sweet.

Please do yourself a favor if you have one and drink them within 6 months. Wow...5/5

Last night I had Stone Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean for the first and last time. If a beer could have multiple personality disorder, this one does. I bet it would be nice with smoke or vanilla, but these elements do not compliment each other IMO.

Ska Modus Hoperandi. It's our go to IPA. Hoppy and well balanced on my palate. Anyone who likes hops and hasn't tried it yet should make it a priority.

I haven't had this years yet but I've felt the same about previous vintages.

Have you had other vintages? I had an 11 in July and was not impressed. Bought a 13 hoping the 11 was just over the hill.
