Homebrew Clubs

Postby flip » July 10th, 2012, 2:12 pm

How many of you are in a club? Which ones are good ones to look into?

I've been homebrewing solo for almost a year now and want to find a club to get advice, and just generally hang out with cool people and talk about beer. I'm aware of a couple in the greater metro area, but I would prefer a local one before having to drive 30 minutes to a meeting. I live near downtown Overland Park.

Suggestions/recommendations? Thanks guys!

"I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member"

I go to the Lawrence Homebrewers Guild meeting every now and then and its a really good club. A few guys on here are part of the Kansas City Biermeisters.

I am prefacing this by saying I am really not trying to be a downer.

I'm a member of the Kansas City Bier Mister and enjoy the members and meetings. I know folks who are in multiple clubs. There are three clubs around town I suggest checking out. Lawrence Brewers Guild, Kansas City Bier Mister and ZZ Hops. Each have solid membership with both novice and experienced brewers. I suggest going to a meeting or two of each and see if either match you.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I've heard of Biermeisters, I'll also have a look into the others mentioned.

If I show up to a meeting unannounced, is the standard procedure just to bring a 6-pack of beer?
