Best Market In KC for "Fresh" Seafood?

If it's not necessarily beer-related, post about it here.

Best Market In KC for "Fresh" Seafood?

Postby JRBoulevard_KC » May 31st, 2014, 10:16 am

So my wife and I's anniversary is coming up. We always pop open a couple special beers and/or some wine, along with a special meal we make at the house. We typically make some type of seafood dish or grill it, etc.

Normally I just go to a bigger Hen House and pick out a couple things from their produce area. This year I was wanting to get something a little higher quality/fresher if possible. I realize this is KC and not the Seattle Fresh Fish Market, but thought I would ask if anyone has any other suggestions at all, that would be anywhere in the metro? I've only lived here 8 years and to be honest there are still alot of areas I'm unfamiliar with.

Thanks in advance.

hope you are ready for the least cool answer ever...

I buy all my seafood from the costco off linwood here in midtown. Its always fresh, only problem is they sell out of stuff prertty regularly. The tuna sells out a lot, and with good reason, its very good. My girl makes sushi with it and we eat it raw without any problems...

Anyone tried seafood thyme in Topeka? Sounds like it might have potential: but far away.

If you want to go in and get what's good, McGonigles. If you want a more thorough (western) selection, Whole Foods.

Thank you all. I have a Sam's club membership, not Cosco. I'll check out McGonigles and/or whole foods!

Check out the produce. They have a lot of great local stuff in the spring.

The problem with Broadway is they have such a small selection that varies often that you never know what your going to get. Great butcher shop though.
