Best dishes around KC. Must haves!

If it's not necessarily beer-related, post about it here.

I went in for the last week that the Lone Elm had their weekly burger special. My understanding is that they are not doing away with the specials permanently. They are just working on some new ones to put out there. Stinks about the happy hour deals though.

I totally forgot about this thread. I have to give a big shoutout to Sushi UNI in Lenexa. Some of the best Asian food I have ever had. The crab rangoon and egg drop soup are not to be missed! They are not a beer destination by any means, only having 1 or 2 bottled craft beers at a time, but the owner is not beer-ignorant at all and it's usually something like Two Hearted or a Boulevard seasonal. I am not sure about right now, but this time last year, they were the #1, most highly-rated restaurant in the state of KS on Yelp...

Everything I have had there is solid and the pricing is good. Been to a couple bbq's/informal beer shares that the owner was at. Nice guy.

You'll eat some weird good stuff assuming you're doing courses. Enjoy!

Didn't care for their miso but those goons are a treasure.

FYI the happy hour prices at Lone Elm are now $2 off for beers regularly priced $5 or more.

Lone Elm is finally bringing specials back, but only a few days a week. The burger is coming back at $6. Not as good as before, but still a good deal.

I've had a burger at Red Door Grill twice now (Brookside and OP locations). Probably the best burger I've had in KC. Their fries are really good too. It's a new favorite for me.

While getting a beer at the bar last night I noticed they had eight local taps, including three KCBC and one Torn Label. Just a few years ago those taps probably would have been Sierra Nevada or similar. Our beer scene has a lot of growth to do in terms of quantity and quality, but progress has definitely been made. The Pils and Alpha were delicious.

I went to the Red Door in south OP 3 times. I agree the food is good. I find the price per quality not worth going...

Last weekend I checked out Urban Table in Prairie Village. I was impressed in every possible regard. Food was excellent, service was excellent, ambiance was super laid back, it was just amazing, all in all. Highly recommended.

BTW I tried the Filet Mignon with whipped potatoes (really tough to go wrong there) and a small Caesar salad. Even the salad was incredible, maybe the best Caesar I have ever had.
