Maybe the best year round local beer: KC Bier Co Pils. Now available in bottles. About freaking time.

2018 KBS - I used to love this beer, but this beer fresh really isn't anything special. It's good, but I'm not sure it's worth $25 a 4-pack. There isn't much barrel character in this beer right now. It's not very smooth. Maybe my expectations are too high for this beer, or maybe there are just too many great barrel-aged beers that are available year-round that are half the price. Hopefully, it will get better after it ages a little more.

Tried the Stone Mikhail last night, their bourbon barrel-aged espresso RIS. It was absolutely incredible, I was kind of blown away by how much I enjoyed it. Perfectly balanced and so tasty.

Schlafly Cream Ale. Although I'd rather french press a Spotted Cow with a coconut, this beer is great after tacos.

Sam Adams Hazy & Juicy. Sure, it's no [fill in the blank legendary hazy brewer] but for the obtainability and drinkability, no complaints from me.

Had some Firestone Lager last night. Its delicious, insane drinkable, clean, and comes in a can. It just sucks paying Firestone prices for a simple lager, but oh well. Its just money.

Had a really nice hazy Pale Ale and a bone dry Stout at Brew Lab last night. I am more and more impressed everytime I visit.

Cheers,

I tried some Torn Label Mansion Brew on tap last night at Barley's. It was really nice, plenty of coffee but not overwhelming, very flavorful and nicely balanced, and pretty drinkable for a big Stout at (I think) 8.8%. It made an awesome dessert. Great job, Torn Label!

Doozy by Mother’s. Oak aged double IPA. Pretty darn good. I’m in Springfield for kid’s baseball. Hope it makes it to KC. Would try again. Also hope to get to the brewery while here.
